A theme park sits just north of the most Easterly town in the UK and boasts of thrilling and very antiquated rides that are constantly in danger of breaking down and where Exotica and Kitsch rub shoulders with heart attack inducing sudden drops into the void and where a technician can be seen often running from one ride to the other in a state of constant anxiety. Not only the place where Pleasurewood's Paul Elliott and Anthony Donje draw their name from but also a pretty apt analogue for their debut LP on Farfalla Records."They Live" is a trip through a cinematic funk-o-rama of French inspired 60's and 70's gauche TV beats and 70's and 80's Simla beat Mumbai synth rock. Glassy Vox Continental leads give way to purring Hammond Organ passages. The back beat is always underpinned by the drums and spicy percussion of Elliott. Chanted vocals are drifting in and out of consciousness- Jimmy Raney esque noodlings of jazz guitar played by Donje nimbly step across the stereo field. Both musicians compose and contribute guitar, bass and avian synthesisers.

Created in 2006, SETENTA, the Latin Soul Band from Paris, spreads a unique mix over the world scene. After a sparkling debut with their first albums Funky Tumbao (Hot Casa Records / Fat Beats 2010), then followed in 2013 by Latin Piece of Soul (Hot Casa Records), and after successful live experiences and strong links developed with New-York, the French seven-pieces combo is back with a modern definition of Latin music. Following their outstanding live collaboration at "Théâtre Les Etoiles" in Paris, and "Jazz Mix de Vienne" in June 2015, they invite Joe BATAAN, the Latin soul legend, to record "My Rainbow", a rare bolero, soulful, with spiritual lyrics written by the godfather, maybe a new classic ballad for the history.Composed collectively, this album mixes up Latin, Soul, Hip-Hop, Funk, modern Jazz, or Psychedelic Boogaloo, with a percussive and strong vocal section, sung in Spanish, English, Creole, Yoruba and French, for the first time in their repertoire, with the song "Madame Shingaling". SETENTA spreads love, peace and positive energy all over the world, from Paris to Nueva York.

L’Illustration Musicale, Sonimage, Técipress-In Editions (Timing), Musax, Freesound, Montparnasse 2000 in France but also De Wolfe and Chappell in England, every of these sound illustration labels have in common to bring out as a legendary spectre the name of Jacky Giordano and his aliases. Widespread practice in the library music world, Joachim Sherylee, chosen for the In Motion album, is one of his plentiful aliases (with José Pharos, Jacky Nodaro, Gruppo Sounds, Rubba...) used by the french composer, that we regain as well for Black Devil with Bernard Fèvre or even for the Shifters with Yan Tregger.For his enthronement on the mythical English label De Wolfe, it's under the obscure name of the Rubba collective that Jacky Giordano aka Joachim Sherylee sneaked in the londonian De Wolfe studios with the companionship of British colleagues such as John Hyde (aka John Saunders, James Harrington, Astral sounds or even Wozo) and his wife Monice Hyde (aka Monica Beale), Alan Howe (aka John Collins), Robert Poole and Tim Broughton.Published in 1980, the In Motion: Modern Progressive Group Sounds Played By Rubba LP and its minimalistic and utilitarian red record cover which contains 13 tracks, mainly composed by Joachim "Giordano" Sherylee and was never reissued since then. This record became cult over time; it will have taken that the Hip-Hop world seizes it in order to dig out from the disregarded and underestimated musical gems graveyard. First of all with beatmaker Madlib and Freddie Gibbs in 2011 with the track “Thuggin'”, in which he sampled the track “Way Star”, also used more recently by Mil and the rapper Westside Gunn on his track “Brains Flew” by (1964 Version).Nearly 40 years after, the Farfalla Records label, after publishing Timing Archives, presents another aspect more progressive and psychedelic of the multi-faceted composer Jacky Giordano by fully reissuing at last this coveted, mysterious and mesmerizing "Rubba". THEODOR is a psychedelic sweet soul band formed by members with diverse musical backgrounds.Whilst on a road trip to Italy Rob and Lui were listening to tapes of contemporary soul music. The idea was born to record an album channeling a moody and relaxed soundscape. „Right after our trip we called up our good friends Max and Greg, who were immediately on board. We wrote and recorded deep in the pandemic. Those weekend sessions captured this peaceful solitude“ The outcome was their self-titled debut album which will be released in February 2023 on the french label Broc Recordz. The rich sonic texture and unconventional arrangements of their very first single SHEPARD’S LULLABY gives a hint on what is to be expected on their forthcoming LP. THEODOR created a perfect soundtrack for a hot and humid summer day having a magic dash in your twelve o’clock tea. Playful melodic bass lines and the soulful acoustic drums build the playground for the warm and dreamy keys such as farfisa organs, fender rhodes and 80's synths. The lush instrumentals are spiced by the very different yet complementary voices of Max and Lui.

MOFAK, the funkiest producer from the south of France (Marseille), is back with a double Modern Boogie single just the way we like it!A side: the bass of the single sets the tone over a fat beat featuring the vocals of Saïd (IAM) and Elois Scroggins! The vocoder gives us a real treat, and the chorus takes it all in and sets the dancefloor alight!B Side : Big beats and groovy bass are the recipe for the intro, then AprilSoul takes it all in when the synthesizers kick in! Mofak on vocoder lifts the track, then the chorus kicks in and keeps us on the edge of our seats until the awesome guitar chorus forces us to play Air Guitare ! !With this double single, Mofak confirms his Modern Boogie level of production and makes it clear that we'll have to keep a close eye on him in the shops.

Magic Source is a project led by producer Björn Wagner (The Mighty Mocambos, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, Mocambo Records), who is renowned for creating an authentic and hard-hitting raw funk sound. Following a few acclaimed single releases on Favorite Recordings over the past few years, the French label deeply wanted to collaborate further with the German combo, for a special and exclusive project bringing their music on new paths. This new project is a step towards a new style: Analog-Electronica, or so called Cosmic-Disco sound.Recorded on a 16-track reel-to-reel tape, EARTHRISING combines raw unedited live band recording, with the refined production aesthetics of the Disco era, including the use of vintage synthesizers, group chants and processed acoustic percussions, for an organic club feeling. While maintaining an un-edited, but highly hypnotic four-on-the-floor groove, Magic Source leaves the old beaten track of cheesy Disco-Pop and overheard Dance classics.The music is an unusual and surprisingly coherent mixture: Earthrising unites rootsy Afro elements (such as almost tribal chants, percussions and a funky rhythm section), with sci-fi score soundscapes (such as ethereal synthesizers, Theremin and space echo and miniature instruments) to an irresistibly grooving beat extravaganza."Cosmic music" was known exclusively in the region of north Italy, Austria, and southern Bavaria until recent. Originally an eclectic DJ mixing style that evolved in the late 70s, it combined Disco, Ethno groove fragments, Electro, Afrobeat, Dub, Italo, Funk and Exotica weirdness to a trancy and danceable turntable symphony.Magic Source creates its very own all-live version of Cosmic. Though you will rarely hear anything similar from any other band, there's hardly an eclectic style that sounds more natural than the wonderful that is Earthrising.
