The French-Afropean duo is back with a new funky masterpiece album! DjeuhDjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson are French composers and afro-soul singers. The duo are creating a new vibe with French sounds and mixing it with Jazz, Afrobeat, Electronic and Soul. T’es qui ? was their first album released in 2015 and re-released a year later under the name Remets t'es qui? It was result of an intense collaboration that has lasted many years, on stage and in the studio. They call their music “Afropean songs”, a collection of Jazzy-Pop melodies, Afro-Soul and Funk arrangements. This new album has 15 songs, and features a tribute to the famous poet Aimé Césaire on the title. The Antilles are also honored with creole lyrics, and if you listen carefully – you’ll hear them distilled within the album. La Montagne Pelée's eruption in 1902 is evoked under the prism of “August Cyparis”, one of the three survivors. The rhythms are tight and focused, with some Antilles, but also Detroit elements thrown in, accompanied with a strong horns section, vibraphone and analog drums. There are lots of echoes from the era of Jazz funk and the lyrical French Mode, mixed with some slightly warmer currents that show their wider love of modern funk and eclectic tastes. It is a unique sound, an original recipe, using French wordplay with a universal message. Last summer, they presented the now critically acclaimed first single “El Nino”, an Afro-Funk gem about climate change, and “Fontaine”, an Afro hit with a great combination of analog take and electronic dance floor ingredients. With massive support from national radios and prestigious international DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Aimez ces airs could be one of the Top funky albums of 2019!Limited press on a deluxe double vinyl cover designed by the artist Felix, mastered by Dj Vas.
Louis Xavier is a talented and sincere all-round artist. He is at once a musician, a writer, a composer, an arranger, a bandleader and a radio show producer. All this has made him a prolific element of the Parisian Jazz scene since the 1970’s.With his band, The Synchro Rhythmic Eclectic Language, he performed in most jazz clubs and venues in Paris. They also became regulars at José Arthur’s Pop Club, a legendary show on national French Radio France Inter. There, he met the French and famous producer Pierre Lattes. It was the start of a great long-lasting friendship.Pierre Lattes produced Chodo, with Louis Xavier & Georges Edouard Nouel, (1975, reissued on our label in 2017) and Ladja. This was a direct to disc recording at Translab Studio (Paris), it was done in live conditions with the precious help of Jo Maka.During his career, Louis Xavier has recorded many tracks, some of which are unreleased to date, and something tells us that we have not finished hearing about his work.

Parisian label Chuwanaga curated by Clémentine & Saint-James is back in the production game with fresh music from Ishkero, maybe the hottest Jazz-Fusion band of the capital city. Going from Jazz-Funk to Afrobeat through Prog and Psychedelic influences, Brume infuses together killer grooves, irresistible melodies and excellent musicianship. The 12inch, coming with its beautiful illustration, reveals a uniformly good yet diverse musical journey. Behind Ishkero, you’ll find five young and gifted musicians with strong jazz knowledge: Tao Ehrlich (drums), Adrien « Dridri » Duterte (flute & percussion), Antoine Vidal (bass), Victor Gasq (guitar) and Arnaud Forestier (keys). With its strong evocation power fuelled by their youthful energy and creativity, Ishkero’s music is a one-of-a-kind variation on the Jazz genre. Fusion at its best potential! Expect intense rhythmic sections, virtuoso solos, lush FX sections and robust arrangements. Used to play a lot live, the musicians developed a vigorous connection that really shines on stage and during studio sessions. Collectively with Saint-James as their co-producer, they recorded Brume in summer 2019 at Studio Delta (Paris) with sound engineer David Cukier aka Greita (Disques Flegon). The first track, "Triple B", is an ode to 70’s jazz-funk carried by Jeff Mercadié’s Sax performance. "Tonik Gin"’s mighty jazz-rock groove which comes afterwards brings the genre to its emotional climax. B side starts with the main track "Brume", bringing together long-tailed reverberated guitars and Mizell-like piano chords for a very warm and hazy effect. As the last track, "Gare De l’Ouest" is a nice jazz variation on the Afrobeat genre, again with Jeff Mercadié on Saxophone.
Originally released in 2002, Comet is proud to present the legendary album Homecooking, reissued with a remastered version.Tony Allen talks about the album: “After Black Voices and Psyco on Da Bus albums, I came back with HomeCooking which was an album filled with guests. I brought in Ty, who had remixed some of my work previously, to rap on the record, and Damon Albarn, who had already sung about me on ‘Music is my Radar’. On the first day in the studio, Damon didn’t record anything because we were enjoying ourselves too much. He came with two boxes of champagne and everyone got boozed and he decided he’d take the music back to his own studio and finish it there. That was the beginning of our friendship and since then we’ve done a lot of different things. Since the early days I’ve been trying to find things that everybody will want to listen to. I’ve always been pushing Afrobeat in different directions. Here’s another one again, another style, almost clean but still rough, raggedy and radical.’’
